Frohrip, Elizabeth

Salem Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, CT

Liz is an Associate in Ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She received her undergraduate degree in music from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and her Master of Music in Organ Performance from Yale School of Music. In addition, she pursued studies at Yale Divinity School (in coordination with the Institute of Sacred Music) and received a Master of Arts in Religion, with a specialization in liturgy.

In her position at Salem Lutheran Church she has strived to elicit and nurture the gifts of all the members, young and old and to bring members of the community into the church's musical life. In addition to playing the organ and directing the Salem Choir, she has formed and directs singing groups for young adults and teens. The Salem Choir School, an after-school music education program for children age 4-13 is also open to children of the entire community. Summersong, an annual 2-week music and performing arts day camp, sponsored by the church, includes children from the neighborhood and nearby towns. She formed and plays keyboard in Spirit, a jazz/pop combo that assists in leading worship monthly and also performs for social occasions. Liz enjoys a broad musical experience in worship and in life, and believes the need and ability to sing is everyone's God-given gift.
