The Greater Bridgeport Symphony's 67th season Oct. 20, "Americana:" On the program, in addition to the Gershwin, are Samuel Barber's "Essay No. 1, Opus 12" and Edward MacDowell's Piano Concerto No. 2.

Nov. 17, "Germania." Violinist Adele Anthony will perform Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1, Opus 26. Beethoven's beloved Symphony No. 3, Opus 55 (Eroica) is another highlight.

Dec. 8, "Holiday Pops." Featured will be guest conductor Christopher Hisey, artistic director of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras; members of the Fairfield County Children's Choir (Jon Noyes, music director); and GBS Concertmaster Deborah Wong on violin. Among the entries are Chadwick's "Jubilee and Noel"; Brahms' "Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn"; Holcombe's "Festive Sounds of Hanukah"; Astor Piazzola's "Winter in Buenos Aires" and Copland's "Simple Gifts.

March 16, "The Mediterranean." Highlights will include such gems as Rossini's "L'Italiana in Algeri" Overture; Barber's "Medea's Meditation & Dance"; Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien, Opus 45, Puccini's Capriccio Sinfonico; and Respighi's "Pines of Rome.

"April 20, "A Tribute to Brahms." Pianist Vanessa Perez will perform Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1, Opus 15 in D minor; the orchestra is slated to present Brahms' Symphony No. 1, Opus 68 in C minor.

Other features of the season will be pre-concert lectures by musicologists from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the Klein (free of charge to ticket holders) and pre-concert four-course dinners ($24.95 set price) at the Park City Grille at the Holiday Inn, 1070 Main St. in downtown Bridgeport. Prior to heading to the Klein, Maestro Meier is scheduled to make brief appearances there.

Performances are at 8:00 PM at the Klein Memorial Auditorium, Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport.
