Fairfield County Chorale - Mozart Solemn Vespers, Vivaldi Gloria
The Fairfield County Chorale will celebrate 50 years of performing great choral works in southwestern Connecticut with a Gala Concert at 7:30pm on May 18th, 2013 at Norwalk Concert Hall.
The concert will feature Mozart Vesperae solennes de Confessores and other classical favorites. A special event during the concert will be a performance of selections from Vivaldi Gloria by the chorale and our alumni chorus. Our alumni chorus includes past members and emeritus members. Emeritus members have at least 10years service but no longer participate in the singing life of the chorale. Emeritus members include charter members and past presidents. Alumni will travel from as far away as California to participate in this event.
The concert will be conducted by David Rosenmeyer who is in his first season as music director of the chorale. The concert will feature soprano soloist Mary Ellen Callahan, a long time favorite of our audiences, Malena Dayen whose recent performance at Carnegie Hall was rated “outstanding” by the New York Times, tenor Nils Neubert, and bass Scott Russell. The Fairfield County Chorale Orchestra will accompany the concert.

About the Fairfield County Chorale
This critically acclaimed group is celebrating its 50th year of performing great choral works in southwestern Connecticut. The winner of the 2011 Artist of the Year Award from the Fairfield Arts Center, the Chorale consists of over 100 auditioned singers, representing a broad range of ages and musical backgrounds. The repertoire ranges from the great classics to commissioned works and world premieres. The Chorale has performed at such prestigious venues as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Its season consists of three concerts performed at the Norwalk Concert Hall, each with professional instrumentalists and soloists.
About the Music Director
David Rosenmeyer is a conductor, vocal coach, pianist, and accompanist born in Argentina who began his musical studies in Israel. Mr Rosenmeyer is also in his seventh season as the Associate Conductor for the Oratorio Society of New York, where he has led the Society in Carnegie Hall performances including Stravinsky's Mass (2007), which marked his Carnegie Hall debut. Mr. Rosenmeyer is also on faculty at New York University where he serves as Music Director of the Choral Arts Society and the University Singers. In addition, he is on the Artist Roster of the Carnegie Hall Weill Music Institute, where he works with the Musical Connection series, designing and bringing engaging interactive musical outreach programs to underserved communities. Mr. Rosenmeyer began his conducting career as the guest conductor of major orchestras throughout South America, including the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of Argentina, the Orchestra of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Orquestra Sinfónica de Concepción of Chile and the Orchestra do Festival do Curitiba of Brazil.
